The bride’s dress and hair are the two things that outline her look. When we do a run through at a fashion show, the models will all be dressed but half have only been through make-up and the other half only hair. It’s always those with their finished hair that look the best. That isn’t to say that make-up isn’t important, just that hair plays such a big role in the finished look that it’s essential that it’s styled to perfection, working with both the bride’s face shape and her choice of dress.
Choosing a good hairstylist for your big day gives you the peace of mind that you will look your most beautiful all day long.
Trials are generally 1-2 hours, depending on how many looks the clients wants to try. I normally recommend no more than 2 looks per trial to preserve the freshness of the hair.
My Kit is varied, I use 3 More Inches, Balmain, Living Proof, Ouai, SP Professional by Wella
In an ideal world 6-12 months. I like to work with my bride to get her hair into the best condition and shape. Condition is the thing is pride myself in as this is one of the most important things to make the hair look amazing on the wedding day.
I love receiving notes of thanks from my brides, it is testament to how far I go to make their day as perfect as I can that they would think to send me card after their wedding, especially as they have so many friends and family to be thinking of.
Outside of the bridal party, I’ve found that guests of the weddings I have worked seek me out to say how gorgeous the bride looked. After one wedding in particular, I took on seven new clients – a sure sign I did a good job!
I love all things fashion, so my absolute favourite trends would be feminine and red-carpet.
If I was a girl I would definitely have multiple hair looks throughout the day. For the ceremony I would have my hair up as the veil is covering most of the hair. It’s also the time when most people will congratulating and hugging you: you don’t want your hair getting in the way.
After dinner, just before the speeches, I would change the hair to a half-up look. Then once we’ve had our first dance and cut the cake I’d sweep it up into a high fashion ponytail to get the party started! As you can tell I am not dramatic at all…
If you could do the hair of any celebrity, who would it be for and why?
Without a doubt Madonna. She is a one of a kind, constantly reinventing her look. It may not always be everyone’s cup of tea, but she has kept up with the times and I applaud her for that. I believe that as life is constantly changing, why would our hair stay the same?
