My drive for what I do stems from the enjoyment I get making my brides look, but most importantly FEEL amazing on such an important day of their lives.
I knew from the age of 8 that I wanted to be a hair and makeup artist. Obsessed with hairstyling on my dolls. I got married two years ago in gorgeous Tuscany, Italy and now have a beautiful son, who is keeping me busy at home as well as work! I loved my wedding day, and it has enabled me to really understand each of my brides since going through the process myself. I started my career in TV and film working with the likes of Channel 4 and Sony entertainment. It was creative, but was lacking in something. I found this missing puzzle piece when I did my first wedding. I absolutely fell in love with everything. It’s got such a buzz about it. My drive for what I do stems from the enjoyment I get making my brides look, but most importantly FEEL amazing on such an important day of their lives. I am a huge girl power fan (maybe I have the spice girls to thank for that) and if I can make women feel confident, by a few strokes of a brush this is just as important as the makeup and hairstyling for me.
You have your amazing venue booked, gorgeous dress sorted and an incredible photographer to capture the essence of the day. Why then would you not want someone to come and make you look picture perfect, so those photos you will look back on in years to come? It’s an investment in you and how you are going to feel, knowing that we are on hand to make you look like the best version of yourself. Not to mention what if you got shaky hands on the day!
A trial is essential in the booking process. It’s a chance for us to really connect and talk about your plans for the day. It is important to bring lots of images to your trial, especially for hair as this enables me to see your ideas and really tailor a look for you. I can help to narrow down choices based on your hair, and perhaps other elements of your day. It’s a chance for both you and me to really nail a look that is going to feel right, and what you are comfortable with. This in turn makes for a far less stressful wedding morning, as you know already what you will look like. Trials for hair and makeup can last anything from 2- 4 hours.
My team and I use a varied kit. We find that not one brand caters for everyone’s needs. We use high end, luxury brands such as Armani, Chanel, Bobbi Brown, Charlotte Tilbury and Nars. We pick only the best products that have been tried and tested to last a long time, from morning until dancing. Hair products vary also dependent on hair type and style, such as Bumble and bumble and Loreal Pro. We are also building a more vegan friendly kit to cater for all our brides wishes.
We get booked up quite far in advance. I would allow for at least a year, sometimes two. Once you have your date fixed, I would drop us an email.
I have had some really beautiful reactions over the years. I have had happy tears and cuddles often saying they have never looked so good. Its also from other members of the bridal party, like mums who don’t always wear lots of makeup who are astounded with how great they look, but without it feeling heavy or too far removed from feeling like themselves. I have even had a bride send me flowers after a trial to say “thank you, I felt incredible, I can’t wait to have you on my wedding day” I am grateful for all my wonderful brides who trust me to be a part of their day.
My style and what my team and I enjoy most is creating enhancing natural makeups that capsulate your best features. Quoted most from brides is “wow you have really made my eyes pop” I really do enjoy creating gorgeously defined eyes, without harsh edges, or heaviness. I like makeup to look seamless, without blurring who you are in a mask of makeup. Hair we love Boho and yes that trend is not going anywhere. We adore texture, looseness and anything that is playful and soft. We also love a strong pop of colour every now and then as well!
Having been married myself and 2 years on, I still love my look. I opted for hair down, with a Hollywood esk wave, but a bit more playful and less rigid. I pinned one side up with a beautiful pearl pin. My makeup was all about my eyes. Using hues of rose gold and a soft smoke on the outer edges. I love a winged liner, and this is kind of my statement in my makeup. I wouldn’t feel like me without it. So of course that was part of my look as well.
Ooo but there are so many faces that I would love to play with. I think if it had to be one it would be Charlize Theron. I adore those cheekbones and eyes, I could definitely make them “pop”.
