A Periwinkle Blue Themed Wedding at Silchester House for Rosalynn and James

Rosalynn from New York married James from Mersyside in an intimate wedding ceremony at Silchester House during July 2016.

About the Couple

Rosalynn and James met online and dated for 2 years before taking their relationship to the next level. James planned to propose around Easter and therefore decided to organise a traditional Easter egg hunt; Rosalynn had to guess the answers to clues and then find the eggs. When Rosalynn came to the final clue, she found the answer and location of what she thought was going to be an egg, but instead she found James, down on bended knee with an engagement ring. The couple spent just under a year planning their wedding for 75 guests, at the intimate country house wedding venue in Berkshire, Silchester House.

The Dress: Third Time Lucky

Rosalynn decided that she wanted to buy her wedding dress at home in New York, and therefore booked an appointment at Kleinfeld in New York City in hope of finding ‘the one’. The bride-to-be tried on 3 dresses in total before feeling ‘perfect’ in a strapless, ruched silk bodycon with a full skirt. As well as a full length veil, Rosalynn splashed out on a stunning pair of gold, sparkly Jimmy Choo wedding shoes to wear on her special day.

Rosalynn turned to the Bijou Partners section on the Bijou Weddings website in order to find her bridal make-up artist and hired Elisa Drummond. Her half up, half down, curly wedding day hair was styled by Adele Rosie.

Something Blue: The Bridal Party

Rosalynn had a party of 4 bridesmaids and her sister as the Maid of Honour. The bride let the girls wear their own dresses, as long as they were a shade of periwinkle blue, so as to follow the wedding colour scheme. The bridesmaids all looked wonderful in their colour coordinating floor-length gowns on the big day.

The groom and his party wore morning suits from Moss Bros teamed up with periwinkle blue coloured ties and blush pink rose buttonholes.

Silchester House: Love at First Sight

Silchester House was the only wedding venue that Rosalynn and James visited during their hunt for the ultimate location to host their wedding celebration. They’d found Silchester House online and fell instantly in love with the grounds and everything that the venue and staff could provide upon their visit. They were also delighted to use Bijou’s proprietary online planning in order to help them plan, organised and communicate their wedding plans with the Bijou team. Booking their wedding at the beginning of September 2015 gave the couple just under 11 months to plan every element of their country house wedding.

The Big Day: 16th July, 2016

Rosalynn walked down the aisle in The Music Room at 3:30pm on the arm of her cousin, to the sounds of ‘At Last’ by Etta James. The Maid of Honour read a love sonnet from Shakespeare and the couple read their emotional vows to one another. After exchanging wedding rings, signing the register and sharing their first kiss as husband and wife, the new Mr & Mrs headed back down the aisle and out in to the wonderful garden at Silchester House. Along with celebratory drinks, guests were offered a selection of canapés including: baby Hampshire fillet of beef, breaded sole and chips, mini filo basket with Scottish smoked salmon, pesto aranchini, Thai fishcakes and Scottish scallop on truffled cabbage. The amazing canapes were just a taste of what was to come in the three course wedding banquet to follow.

Wedding Menu

Starter - Red onion tart
~
Main Course - Sticky Hampshire beef or Roast Mediterranean vegetable stack
~
Dessert - Chocolate pot or Fresh fruit platters

The couple ordered a simple white, two-tier wedding cake from M&S, but added an elegant pair of Swarovski crystal love birds as a cake topper. Wedding tables were named after holiday destinations that the newlywed couple had enjoyed in the past, and were decorated with crystals and sweets. Traditional sugared almond wedding favours were given to each guest and Moutan decorated the venue florally with a mix of succulent flowers and plants, along with seasonal blooms to coordinate with the periwinkle blue theme which ran throughout the day.

The couple hired Shaun Easton from Shades Events to entertain their 75 wedding guests throughout the evening.  The newlyweds were showered with red heart paper confetti as they danced their first dance to ‘All of me’ by John Legend -  the bride then tossed her beautiful blue bouquet to her single friends. To celebrate their nuptials, the couple went on a short trip to Sardinia, but are looking forward to their official honeymoon to the Maldives in the future.
