Kerry and Nick celebrated their blush pink themed wedding on a Monday afternoon at Notley Abbey with 57 guests.

The Proposal

Kerry and Nick met and at The Shard in London during a recognition event at work. They hit it off and spent the next 2.5 years side by side, until Nick felt that it was time to take their relationship to the next level. Kerry had subtly sent Nick some images of the style of engagement ring that she liked as she didn't want to risk him getting it wrong when he was ready to pop the question. The couple had planned to head back up The Shard for Nick’s birthday and it was that very night that he chose to propose.

The couple booked and planned their wedding in just under a year from announcing their engagement.

Wedding Fashion

The excited bride-to-be found her dream wedding dress in the first shop she visited. The mermaid style with lace overlay, designed by Emma Charlotte, made Kerry feel like a million dollars when she tried it on. The gorgeous gown featured an elegant sweetheart neckline and a corset back, which the bride teamed up with a sparkly hair band, a pretty veil and an elegant pair of wedding shoes designed by Rainbow Club.

For her bridal party, Kerry invited 3 of her closest friends to be bridesmaids as well as her two nieces. The girls opted for a spring-like blush pink colour gown and all agreed on the perfect, floor-length style.

The groom bought himself a luxurious navy blue suit from Reiss, teamed with a grey tweet waistcoat from Ted Baker. The groom’s party all wore individual navy suits with blush pink ties to complement the bridesmaid’s dresses and floral colour scheme.

Choosing A Dream Barn Wedding Venue

Notley Abbey was the only venue that Kerry and Nick visited during their search for the perfect venue. They found the historic barn whilst searching for country house wedding venues online, and decided to take the plunge and book a visit with the Bijou team. The couple fell in love with the charm of the whole venue, “It felt very intimate and ticked all of the boxes” said Kerry. The couple also found Bijou’s proprietary online planner so incredibly easy to use from the beginning of their wedding planning process, until the very end.

Blush Pink Wedding Flowers

Bijou Partner Sonning Flowers were hired to decorate Notley Abbey with floral accents throughout. Wedding party bouquets featured a combination of blush roses surrounded by gypsophilia and the groom’s party wore blush pink rose button holes. The Abbot’s Hall was simply decorated with beautiful floral pedestals with jam jars hanging from the edge of aisle seats and to work with the couple’s budget, the pedestals from the ceremony were later moved to feature on either side of the top table in The Monks’ Refectory in order to add colour to the wedding banquet. Kerry tossed her pretty bridal bouquet at the end of the night to all of her single girlfriends.

The Big Day: Monday 10th April, 2017

Kerry and Nick were married in The Abbot’s Hall at 2pm on Monday April 10th, 2017. The bride walked down the aisle with her mother to ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri playing in the background. Nick’s sister, Hannah, did a reading called ‘The One’ and after their exchange of vows and wedding rings, the couple were pronounced husband and wife in front of their 57 guests.

After an outdoor drinks reception with garden games, a sumptuous selection of canapés and glasses of celebratory Prosecco, guests were invited in to the barn-style Monks’ Refectory to dine on a carefully chosen wedding banquet menu. During their Wedding Planning Wednesday meeting at Notley Abbey, prior to their wedding, the couple tasted samples of Bijou’s most popular dishes and chose the following menu selection to serve their guests on the big day.

Spring Wedding Banquet Menu

Starter

Red onion tart with spinach and saffron shallot, marscarpone, red current and balsamic dressing.

Main Course

Trio of Lincolnshire, Olde English and pork and leek sausages served with creamed potato, roasted shallot and baby leek along with red wine gravy.

Dessert

Chocolate pot with a melting middle served along side Jack Daniels ice cream and chocolate crumbs.

Children’s Menu

Chicken nuggets with chips and salad with homemade ice cream and berries for dessert.

Round wedding reception tables were named after the couple’s favourite locations in New York and London, and were decorated with rustic lanterns, candles and blush pink rose petals. Kerry and Nick hired the white vintage ER post box from Bijou and booked a photo booth company to entertain their guest during the evening reception. The newlyweds cut through a three tier white wedding cake from Waitrose which had been decorated with blush pink florals and a personnalised wedding cake topper, unique to them. The Bijou DJ kick-started the night by playing the couple’s first dance song choice – ‘A Million Love Songs’ by Take That and guests joined the newlyweds on the dance floor – for the rest of the night.

To celebrate their marriage, Kerry and Nick jet-setted of to one of their favourite world-wide destinations, New York, for their honeymoon. And, when asked if there was anything in particular that they wanted to share about their wedding at Notley Abbey, the couple commented “The whole day ran like clockwork - it was so special. All of the staff worked incredibly hard to provide us with such an amazing day. It was perfect!”
