Julie & Ashley - Silchester House

Julie and Ashley got on the 20th of June 2013 at Silchester house, Berkshire.

Julie and Ashely in the Gardens at Silchester House

We chose the venue because we fell in love with it before we even walked through the door; it is set in such in such beautiful surroundings and is just a stunning house that we felt so comfortable in right away.

I fell in love with the dress straight away, it was the first one I tried on, the lady in the shop picked it out and she was spot on, although I was very lucky and managed to find mine second hand as it was quite expensive. It was from the Tom Flowers range and called ‘Beth’. My veil was the one my Mum worse 31 years ago at her wedding – so it also doubled up as my ‘something old!’

Shoes were the table centrepieces

My flowers were actually faux - they looked amazing and so real. I got them from a Facebook business called ‘Flowers by Sara’ it was a wonderful experience and I was so happy with the results.

The bridesmaid dresses were brought from house of Fraser. I spent ages trying to pick the perfect colour for my girls; I wanted purple but I couldn’t find a colour that really made me smile.

I can honestly say we had the most perfect day, the weather started off a bit grey and it did threaten to rain but it turned in to a wonderful warm sunny afternoon.
The food was out of this world; I still get comments now about it and the professionalism of the waiters and waitresses. All the staff at the venue were so helpful - there for our every need.
A lot of the wedding was DIY and we had a lot of help from friends and family. The photos were done from a good friend of ours of who does professional photography and another friend created the cake. All the decorations were hand crafted – I spent ages finding things on eBay and then days with the girls putting it all together! All of these wonderful people helped us so much in the lead up to our day – it made it so much more personal (and helped us to save a bit of money!)
The table decorations represented my passion for shoes but also had a hint of Ashley’s love of music and his favourite band with Iron maiden plectrums.
Our top tip is to enjoy your day, no matter what! You can’t plan everything so even if the a few little things go the way you thought, it’s only you who will notice it.
